1. Who → By whom

  • Active structure: Who + V + object?
  • Passive structure: By whom + be + past participle + subject?

 Example:

  • Active: Who opened the door?
  • Passive: By whom was the door opened?

2. What

  • Active structure: What + did/does/will + subject + V?
  • Passive structure: What + be + past participle + by + subject?

 Example:

  • Active: What did she eat?
  • Passive: What was eaten by her?

3. When

  • Active structure: When + did/does/will + subject + V + object?
  • Passive structure: When + was/will + object + be + past participle?

 Example:

  • Active: When did they build the house?

4. Where
